Happy New Year!

Well, this will be my last blog update of 2010! It features photos taken yesterday from my second shoot with the ever wonderful Richard Lund. Working with Richard is an absolute pleasure. He's conveniently local, and having worked with him before I had a few ideas this time around for some accessories to take along to create some more fashion nudes. I love collecting jewellery and accessories with a view to shooting it, and Richard didn't disappoint. I really love these photos.

I've also spent today shooting, and there are a few remaining photos to come from shoots I've done since Christmas, but this pretty much wraps up 2010. As I've said before, it has been a great year for my modelling work, and I am excited about continuing with my modelling in 2011 and creating exciting new photos. Thank you to all the wonderful photographers I have worked with throughout the year, and all the models I have communicated with, in person or online. There are some superb models out there, and I like to think that we support each other in our own way when we can, through virtual means or real ones.
For next year, I have some ideas for collaborations featuring other models, as well as a list of photographers I've always wanted to work with. I would also like to socialise more! Modelling can be a lonely business, in that as a model, you rarely meet your colleagues. I would love to meet more creatives through work, but also on a social basis, just to spend time with like-minded people! Hopefully next year will bring more merriment, as well as the very serious matter of creating art. I'm going to travel more in 2011, so with any luck, this will mean working with photographers I've yet to collaborate with.

I will be taking bookings further in advance, as of now onwards. In the past, I've tended to book shoots last minute because I didn't know what's around the corner. I've also tended to publicise my location and travel at the last minute, too.
I will now be taking bookings for the next year, anywhere in the UK (and further afield, if there are photographers abroad who would like to work with me - I'm always happy to travel!). If you are a photographer, and you are reading this thinking that you would like to work with me, please email me expressing your interest. Let me know some potential dates (or a time-scale) and your location, and let's make some plans! From now on, I will be working around you, rather than waiting until I'm travelling to an area and keeping you informed, tell me when you would like me to travel to you, and I will do so. I'll then notify other photographers nearby that I'll be around.

Areas I'm planning to travel to (in no particular order) in 2011 include:

Gloucestershire,
Wiltshire,
Scotland (all areas),
Somerset,
Cumbria,
Northumberland.

Hertfordshire, London, Derbyshire, Yorkshire, Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Midlands are all fairly convenient to one of my two bases (Chesterfield or St Albans) and I can work from there any time.
If your area isn't on the list, please let me know, and I'll come to you! If your area is on the list, let me know when you'd like me to visit! If I'm on tour in your area, I'll be offering discounts for TFA (Time For Accommodation).
I'm offering home shoots from my base in Chesterfield, and I also know several locations nearby, if you would like to travel to me in Derbyshire. My flat in St Albans is not suitable for home shoots but is very convenient for several studios in London.
So, please do get in touch. I'm excited about what the future holds, and I hope to hear from you soon.

And, most importantly,
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

A Year In The Life...

As 2010 draws to a close, it strikes me that this blog now represents a year in the life of ERosanne, depicted in photos.

Taken at Barlow Studios by Andrew Scott

As a model, it has been a wonderful year. On a personal level (without going into details), it has been full of challenges, and there have been times when it has been difficult to remain positive. However, I have drawn solace from some wonderfully creative shoots, from looking back over the work I have produced over the past twelve months, and from writing this blog - which I have found therapeutic. I turned 30 almost exactly a year ago, and had all the usual doubts about ageing that a significant birthday always brings about. I almost considered quitting modelling, but I am relieved that I didn't as this year it has proved more rewarding than ever. I would even go so far as to say that I have produced some of my best work yet in the new decade.
Some of my favourite images from 2010 are represented in the slideshow featured on this blog (a varied selection of images that lend themselves to thumbnails).

I am immensely proud of all the shoots I've done, extremely grateful to the wonderful photographers who have booked me and collaborated with me, and I have made some friendships along the way - both virtual friends and real ones.

(I didn't even realise this one was me until it was pointed out to me!)

I have made some decisions regarding my career next year, and I will be taking modelling bookings further in advance, travelling more in 2011, and (with any luck) focussing more on furthering my modelling career. I also have some exciting ideas for collaborations and artistic ventures which I look forward to sharing with like-minded creatives in the near future... (watch this space).

These photos are a few extras from shoots throughout the year that I have yet to upload. I've also had a busy few days shooting, and may well have more to upload before the year is out.

I still have another shoot planned tomorrow, New Year's Eve no less. So the year isn't over yet, in terms of modelling work. I'm looking forward to some very exciting shoots planned for 2011, and hopefully, another creative year of blog updates for ERosanne.

Merry Christmas To All

Well, I don't know about you, but I love Christmas! I've always been a big kid when it comes to this time of year. I get all nostalgic about getting the Christmas decorations out, and listening to my favourite festive songs (sniff).

It's a great shame that my pantomime was cancelled, but even so, I've been trying to make the most out of the situation. We've had some very festive weather this year, and best of all, I've got an early Christmas present on the shape of the little dog in these photos!

As a child, I grew up surrounded by dogs and other creatures, and I've always been an 'animal person.' My lovely dachshund died six years ago now, and there has been a hole in my life ever since.

I began the search for a dog around a month ago, but had to take into account that there is already a cat and three chinchillas in the household, so it had to be a 'furry friendly dog.' I found this lovely little chap via The Little Dog Rescue, who do wonderful work fostering dogs until they find their 'forever home.' Gyp (the name he came with) arrived home this week after a slight delay in adopting him due to the weather. From the moment he arrived, it was as if he'd lived here all his life, and he seems very happy to be 'home.'
Dave A Davies and I took him for a walk in the Peak District this afternoon armed with Dave's camera. He absolutely loved it, and was far more adept on his four legs than we were on our two! Despite it being around -6 degrees C (at best), I still couldn't resist a quick shoot with my new model, with the Peak District as a snowy backdrop. Hopefully next year, these might be my Christmas cards!

And if all that isn't festive enough for you, you can view my Christmas themed photos from previous years here (if you are a deviantArt member).

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!
And remember, a dog is for life, not just for Christmas.

The Works

Following my impromptu shoot with Pierus in Cambridge on Saturday, we spent Sunday afternoon shooting in The Works studio with more set ideas planned. I had seen Claude's studio lighting and couldn't wait to collaborate on some ideas. These sets turned out exactly as I had hoped, and I'm really pleased with these photos. I just love the lighting, and we produced several sets, more of which can be seen here.

What's the Blurb?

I recently found myself online in a book from a shoot this summer with Jim Carter.

Click on the image to preview Jim's book, 'A Life Shooting Nudes.' You can find me on pages 3, 11, 31 and 97.

You can also find my work featured in another Blurb book, UKPM Volume 2. UKPM is a modelling/photography website with a comparatively small following, and a fairly high percentage of Scottish members. It's a friendly website, with a good sense of community, and they have now launched two books featuring members' work. This edition features some of my self-portraiture.

Both books can be purchased from Blurb.com

I'm also reliably informed by the photographer who took this image, that the photo on the front cover of this book is of me. 'A Red Hot Love Goddess,' no less. Truly, I have reached the dizzy heights of fame!

At the end of November, I was in Cambridge for the weekend. I had planned a studio shoot with the superbly talented Pierus for the Sunday afternoon, but as it happened, we were both also free on Saturday afternoon.

As we had never met before, we decided to spend a few hours chatting and shooting just for fun.

I have to confess that I wasn't particularly expecting brilliant photos, simply because the hotel wasn't 'anything special,' and we weren't equipped with studio lighting for this shoot.

But I hadn't taken into account that Claude is a photographer who really knows how to use a camera! I was pleasantly surprised when I saw this set, as he has somehow transformed an uninspiring hotel room into a light, airy set of really lovely photos.
I particularly like the portraits, and lingerie sets, which is a bit of a departure from my usual art nude work.

You can catch even more images from this set on Pierus' website, here.

Winter Wanderings... and Wonderings
(there's snow business like show business)

Well, I can hardly believe it is December! The year has flown by. It has been a year of mixed fortunes for me, some disappointments and some pleasant surprises. Some of you will know that as well as modelling, I am also a professional singer. There are times in my life when I am predominantly a singer earning a living, and others when I am mainly a model. Both are creative outlets for me, and part of who I am.
For the past few years leading up to 2010, I had been making a good living as a successful singer, and loving every minute of it. I still modelled on the side and kept my portfolio updated, but mostly I was enjoying my lifestyle as a singer and actress. I worked solidly for several years, lining up one contract after another, and was in work right up until Christmas last year... And then the clock struck midnight marking a new decade, and suddenly musical theatre died a death. At least, it did for me.

Having enjoyed several prosperous years previously, in 2010 I just haven't had a look in. There have been a few auditions, but they really have been few and far between! I've been offered roles which I've had to turn down because I feel that after a decade in the industry, I deserve to be paid a decent wage for what I do, not making a loss for the privilege of performing. Several shows fell through, and somehow I've just been unlucky lining up work. Don't get me wrong, I have worked this year, and my professional CV is still pretty healthy. But it has been frustrating, and I just haven't quite reached my full potential in 2010.
The latest blow, to add insult to injury, is that I was due to be performing panto again this Christmas. I worked for the same company last year, and I love doing panto - it makes it feel festive! This has been planned for months, and I've duly been telling all photographers who enquired about my availability that I would be unavailable throughout December. I found out the day before I was due to start rehearsals that the show has been cancelled. I'm not only disappointed, but this leaves me with a month of no work and no wage! It is too late in the day to line up something else, and the run up to Christmas is a notoriously difficult time to fill!

On a more positive note, I have had an amazing year in terms of my modelling work! This time last year, I was wondering whether or not to continue, because inevitably as time passes, I am getting older (aren't we all?). Soon into the new year, I rediscovered my passion for modelling. It had never really left me, I'd just been busy doing other things. I've loved every shoot I've done, and it has become for me the creative outlet that I need. I am one of those people who has to be doing something creative. If I can't do it one way, then I'll find another way to release my creative energy! My two careers are not so far apart from one another really. I've always said that 'modelling is a static form of acting,' and for me this has been particularly true over the last twelve months.
Next year, I'm considering taking a break from singing. I will never give up, it is too much ingrained in me as part of who I am. But I am feeling frustrated with the industry and it's hard not to feel resentful and bitter. I don't want to walk into auditions feeling that way, so I may take some time to re-focus, and work consistently on modelling work. The musical theatre industry is so impenetrable at the moment due to the recession, that I doubt I will be losing out if I take a while to rediscover my passion. In the meantime, this will allow me the ability to plan shoots further ahead (as I have always been reluctant to book too far in advance due to the possibility of auditions or potential singing work). It will also mean that I can concentrate on having 'one identity' for a while (I never mix my singing and modelling work), so hopefully, something good may come of re-prioritising for a while. It will also hopefully lead to more modelling work, and some great shoots with fabulous photos!
We've had snow here (perhaps you've noticed!), lots of it! I do love Christmas and all things Christmassy, and I am childishly excited by the snow. There is currently around a foot and a half settled here in Chesterfield, with 2-3 foot drifts in places. (To be honest, I would really struggle to get to panto rehearsals anyway, if it had gone ahead). I went for a wander through the town today with Dave Davies, and we both took our cameras with us. You can see the results of my own photos on my new facebook page (I've joined facebook as a model for networking - feel free to add me). I haven't seen snow like this since my childhood, so couldn't resist shooting on both sides of the camera. Here are the photos taken today in the snow by Dave (couldn't resist a quick nude in the back garden - sitting smiling in the snow!).
